Bent County Food Endeavor ~ CEO
Matthew A. Chavez is the first Chief Executive of the Bent County Food Endeavor (BCFE). He was hired on to research and write proposals and grants to help fund BCFE and its endeavors. He will also oversee supervision of paid employees hired under BCFE.
BCFE is a 501(c)3 organization. Personal donations, memorials, grants, foundation funds, churches, and civic organizations help BCFE purchase necessities to continue our mission. BCFE receives funds from F.E.M.A and has assisted in the recent fire disaster in Ordway.
In 2008, BCFE served 658 food boxes to 1,866 individuals; 1,147 children 17 and under, 714 adults 18 and over in Bent County. Volunteers gave 1,840 hours of service and in-kind donations in the amount of $2,985.06. Volunteers assisted 130 individuals in need of special diets.
BCFE strives to never have a waiting list for services. Contributions make this possible.
How Our Program Works
BCFE serves as an emergency food assistance program. The emergency food is proportioned to provide an individual or a family with food for three days. The same assistance is available every 30 days as needed.
